The Alchemyst ~ By: Michael Scott

He holds the secret that can end the world.

The truth: Nicholas Flamel was born in Paris on September 28, 1330. Nearly seven hundred years later, he is acknowledged as the greatest Alchemyst of his day. It is said that he discovered the secret of eternal life.
The records show that he died in 1418.
But his tomb is empty.

The legend:Nicholas Flamel lives. but only because he has been making the exilir of life for centuries. The secret of life eternal is hidden within the book he protects-the Book of Abraham the Mage. It's the most powerful book that has ever existed. In the wrong hands, it will destroy the world.
That's exactly what Dr. John Dee plans to do when he steals it. Humankind won't know whats happening until it's to late. And if the prophecy is right, the twins, Sophie and Josh Newman are the only ones with the power to save the world as we know it.

Sometimes legends are true. And Sophie and Josh Newman are about to find themselves in the middle of the greatest legend of all time.

This book is full of magic, myths, legends, chases, monsters, heroes, evil and good. . . a pure fantasy that will keep you on the edge of your seat as you rush to the final page!!!By then it will be clear that the end is only the beginning.
I would recommend this book it to fantasy lovers 10 and up.

Enjoy!

  3. My pleasure, Carrie. see ya soon :)

Wow, Victoria! I saw this book on the self a while ago and got sceptical about it's relation to Harry Potter. I know Nicholas Flamel is in the HP series and wondered if Michael Scott was ridding Rowlings coat tails a little.
I don't mean to ruffle any feathers here. I was just wondering if you or anyone else knew something or had any thoughts on the subject.
I must admit reading this review has changed my mined about picking it up for myself. It sounds really fun!
    Thank you Si-Fi Chick!

  4. Your welcome!!! The book is totally unique, it doesn't copy or even link with the Harry Potter series(except the fact that Nicholas Flamel is mentioned in there). Hope you enjoy the book!:)

  6. I'm with Cynthia, I'm starting to rely on her for my next read.
I've seen this book before and wondered if it was good, now I'm going to read it for sure!
Debbie, that was my first thought about H.P. but I just think that J.K. has done a great job at weaving old tales and Myths with her stories. I'm constantly finding links to where she might have gotten some of her ideas from. Example: I've been reading "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens and in it he has a bank called "Tellson's" The way he describes the bank is the spitting image of "Gringott's" from H.P. It makes you wonder...

  7. Cool Sil! I guess we are all just a product of the experiences that we've had and the things that we've learned and then we add on our own fingerprints to all of it and pass it on. I can't see anything wrong with that :)
